Bill Sali for President!

Yesterday, Slate commentator Bruce Reed offered for the Republican presidential nod Rep. Sali, who he calls the Great Right Hope. According to Reed, the conservatives are in need of a Republican messiah, and Sali’s their man. In a massive Goldwater-style landslide loss, Sali could invigorate the conservative base left gasping after the recent Democratic victory.
Republicans are so used to winning Idaho that they have forgotten Idaho’s ability to help them lose everywhere else. If conservatives are so mad they want to throw the Republican Party out the window, Bill Sali could be just the ticket.
