the sun gets in your eyes

the sun had several outbursts in the last few days, watch the most mind-blowing SOHO stop-frame animation cam HERE. (let it load fully once and then on the second time around . . . wa wa weee woo!)
also, there is a new “theory of the universe” which suggests that we live in a plasma-based, not gravity-based world. i just came across an online version of a new film on the topic that you can watch, THUNDERBOLTS OF THE GODS (1hr). they touch on magnetics, comets (ie: comet mcnaught), mythology, and all sorts of sun/plasma details.
That is sooo cool. I wouldn’t have known if you hadn’t posted. Thanks. Are they anticipating an increase in aurora activity? And while I’m at it thanks for the great links.
yeah - the sun is a pretty crazy thing . . . i found the SOHO cams a few years ago and occasionally pop over to see what’s up . . .
here are a couple of other perspectives of the bursts as well.

and i just found this from another blog . . . i don’t really know what it’s showing other than what it says “water vapor satelite”, but it looks pretty cool.

and i would suspect some additional aurora action, but i honestly don’t know what the effects will be . . .
That was one cool CME (coronal mass ejection) last Thursday. Depending on which direction the matter stream is heading across the solar system, it could result in a nice auroral display in the next few days.
Geez Irwin, you make it sound so dirty. Thanks for answering the question. Should have stayed up last night.
